The witches brew. The witches full movie. Dude I discovered this channel about a month ago and I have never been disappointed by a single video. Everything you have to say about the horror genre of cinema is always interesting and intriging. Keep up the great work dude.

I'm not a fan of unnecessary remakes so this better TRAUMATIZE the ever living shit out of me so bad that my future grandkids will feel it. The witches box. The watches and jewelry. The witches 1990. The witches of breastwick. No doubt Roald Dahl is a great children's author but maybe perhaps children will feel less scared reading the book than seeing it on film!
The story of a boy and his grandmother, finding out that the hotel they are staying at has a witches convention which is planning to turn all the children in England into mice is very well done. Though the major concerns I have is 1. The head witch in her real form 2. The scene when people turn into mice (espically the English kid) WARNING THOSE SCENES SCARE CHILDREN CAUSE IT SCARED ME! So parents, just put your arm around your kid the whole time, just in case.
Performances are good, espically from Angelica Huston and Rowan Atkinson. Jasen Fisher is quite a cheesy lead to have, I reckon.
A good family movie with very scary scenes so I'll warn you there.

Its a genuinely frightening, disorienting family-horror with a couple of key twists near the end which reveal unfathomable tragedy. Its scary the first time you watch it, and just so so so sad and beautiful ( and still scary ) the second, third and fourth times. I was in primary school when I first watched The Witches (we had the book read to us in the Library) and I do remember feeling my skin crawl when the witches took off their skin. It was enough imagining it happen in the book, but on screen? That was something nine year old me didn't have to see but did anyways. I don't remember much from the book since it's been so long, but I definately remember the condescending tone it had when it was talking about Bruno (to be fair he is a spoiled brat. I could go on about the Witches, but the majority of Dahl's books have been an essential part of my childhood and they have made a lasting impression on me.

Depending on what counts as an invasion, mine is probably Dreamcatcher. I've seen thousands of horror movies, name one you consider obscure I've probably seen it, and my top three horror, pure horror that actually scare me are 1. Poughkeepsie Tapes 2. Lake Mungo 3. Noroi The Curse Now if I add other flicks like say sci fi horror or body horror then yes the list changes, The Thing being #1 always, along with Evil Dead and other films we all know and love, but movies that have actually sent a shiver up my spine for one reason or another are those three, I suggest if you like horror movies you check them out.

The Invasion (2007) would have been a great new adaptation if the studio didn't order reshoots and rewrites to add more action to a psychologycal horror film (go figure. The way the movie debates this idea that violence is what ultimately maked us human and will we still be the same without it. The original was made during the Red Scare, Communists are bad era. The new one was made in a post-9/11 world, so the invaders are seen through that terrorist, enemy is among us lens and it is awesome. The final product may not have been very good pacing wise, but thr idea was there. Anyway, great video as always! Georg Rockall-Schmidt has a great video on this topic. The witches voice. Ocassionally I still watch this film and each time I do, I find something new that I didn't see before. Not many films can accomplish that! This was one of my childhood favourites and continues to be a favourite into my adulthood. Definitely a classic and I worry the upcoming remake will pail in comparison. I am looking forward to the new film, but can already see the many differences to the classic. I just hope they do this funny, creepy, delightful and heartwarming film justice. I am truly a fan.

I remember this one about a porridge growing bigger and bigger til it devoured all of the city. Also some of my native fairytales were also influenced by pagan mythology and most of the stuff scared me but excited me at the same time. This movie made a huge impact on my childhood. It's truly amazing to see an exploration on it. I like your observations about the girl in the painting that, I agree, creates a terrifying prelude for what we are about to see and it's interesting your opinion about loneliness as a theme.
